Ontario has a long history of injured worker activism. In recent years, injured workers and their representatives have become more involved in research. They have been joined by a number of researchers and community partners who support their struggles. This group has formed a partnership called the Research Action Alliance on the Consequences of Work Injury. The mandate of the Alliance is to undertake research on the workers' compensation system and its role in the economic, social and health consequences of work injury. The Alliance builds on the expertise of all involved to produce insights into the compensation system that will influence policy development, education, and further investigation. Ultimately, the Alliance hopes to make the system work better for all injured workers. Goals of the initiative The main goals of the initiative are:
